We’re recruiting at three clinical trial sites!

We’re pleased to announce that we’re recruiting at three clinical trial sites until 31 March!

If your child or patient is living with metaphyseal chondrodysplasia type Schmid (MCDS), he or she may be eligible to partake in our clinical trial. We are actively recruiting until 31 March for our clinical trial in Italy, Australia and England.

Italy

Express your interest in joining our clinical trial at The Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna, Italy!

The Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute is the main Italian institute for orthopaedics and traumatology. Granted the status of ‘scientific research hospital’ in 1981 for high-quality healthcare and research, it has since become part of the Emilia-Romagna Regional Health Technology Network.

The Emilia-Romagna Regional Health Technology Network appointed the Institute’s Department of Medical Genetics and Rare Orthopaedic Diseases the centre of coordination for the Regional Hub and Spoke Network of Rare Skeletal Diseases. The Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute is also the coordinator of the European Reference Network on Bone Rare Disorders (ERN-BOND).

Fun Fact: The Health Economics Team working with MCDS-Therapy operates out of the Universita di Bologna in Italy. Their research is vital to understanding the cost of diseases to patients, health services and wider society. They also research the cost-effectiveness of treatments.

Australia

Express your interest in joining our clinical trial at The Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia!

The Murdoch Children’s Research Institute is the largest children’s health institute in the southern hemisphere. The Institute is co-located within the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, and has close links with the University of Melbourne. It employs 2,000 researchers who study all aspects of infant, childhood and adolescent diseases.

Fun Fact: You’ll be under the care and supervision of Prof Ravi Savarirayan!

England

We’re thrilled to announce that both of our UK trial sites are recruiting in England!

Express your interest in joining our clinical trial at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Newcastle, UK and The Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (more specifically The Trust’s Evelina London Children’s Hospital) in London, UK.

Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is home to MCDS-Therapy’s Principal investigator, Dr Michael Wright. He has been overseeing the early stages of the clinical trial in the UK.

Working closely with our London site, Dr Michael Wright has identified a suitable dose of carbamazepine (CBZ) for MCDS patients in our first patient cohort currently under treatment.

The Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust

The Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust was formed in 1993 from a merger of two London-based hospitals. The resulting service reconfiguration has enabled it to become a specialist in many clinical and research areas. The Trust’s NIHR Biomedical Research Centre leads the way in translational research and innovation. It is also part of the 100,000 Genomes Project, which aims to decode the DNA sequences of 100,000 people who have a rare condition or live with cancer.

The Trust’s Evelina London Children’s Hospital opened in 2005.

Fun fact: You’ll be under the care and supervision of Dr Melita Irving!
